St John's Essendon is a congregation of the Uniting Church in Australia
We are committed to quality worship and serious engaging of issues of living out the faith in the contemporary world. We offer a variety of ways to learn the faith, including a programs catering for KUCA (Kids of the Uniting Church) and TUCA (Teenagers of the Uniting Church) on Sunday morning. A high value is placed upon pastoral care of the congregation and we are exploring ways of strengthening the 'group life' of the congregation. Youth ministry has been facilitated by the appointment of a youth worker. Service to the wider community is also offered, including emergency assistance, the Friendship Club for elderly people and support programs of the wider church. Serious baptism and marriage preparation is provided. Many members of the congregation are involved in community service and action for justice and peace.
service times
The congregation normally gathers on Sundays throughout the year for the worship of God at the following service times:
8.30am A shorter service including the weekly celebration of Holy Communion
10.00am Family Worship with KUCA (Children’s Ministry)and TUCA (Teenager’s Ministry) available in school terms.
In a cycle each month we celebrate worship on Sundays as follows:
1st (English/Samoan) including Holy Communion
2nd (English/Korean); 3rd (English/Samoan); 4th (English) and on any 5th Sundays, worship is conducted in 3 languages (English/Samoan/Korean) with the aid our data-projector.
12.00noon Samoan Language Service (2nd and 4th Sundays each month)
12.30pm Korean Language Service (1st , 3rd and 4th Sundays).
